Structural glass calculation: insulating and laminated glass
Choose glass thickness by calculation, not by habit. We check facade, roof and balustrade glass under wind, snow and climatic loads and propose an economic, safe build-up.
Why it matters
In an insulating glass unit both panes share the load, and the cavity pressure changes with temperature, barometric pressure and altitude. In small, narrow panes these climatic loads alone can cause breakage.
We calculate four-edge, two-edge and point-supported glass with analytical and finite element methods and report stresses and deflections in clear tables.
Systems
- Curtain wall glazing
- Roof and skylight glass
- Balustrades and glass floors
- Point-fixed glazing
- Large shopfront panes
Standards
- DIN 18008

Structural Glass Calculation
Why do climatic loads matter in IGUs?
Cavity pressure rises or falls with temperature and altitude changes. In small, narrow and thick panes this adds significant stress and must be included in the calculation.
