Cladding substructure structural calculation
For ventilated facades we calculate the substructure between panel and building: rails, brackets, rivets and screws, anchors and movement points.
Why it matters
Loads travel from panel fixings to rails, brackets and anchors. Aluminium expands considerably; poorly planned fixed and sliding points cause rail stress, rivet failure and noise.
We optimise rail and bracket spacing for panel type, weight and fixing method and check all connections under wind suction.
Systems
- Aluminium composite panels
- Ceramic and porcelain
- HPL and fibre cement
- Natural stone
- Metal and perforated panels
Standards
- EN 1999-1-1
- EN 1991-1-4
- EAD / ETAG 034
- EN 1992-4

Cladding Substructures
What is the most common cladding mistake?
Rails fixed without movement allowance and ignoring increased wind suction at corners. Both are solved by calculation and detailing.
