Awning and shading system structural calculation
For awnings and shading systems, wind governs. We check profiles, arms and especially the wall fixings under realistic wind conditions.
Why it matters
An open awning catches wind like a sail. Besides the arms and the torsion bar, the anchors fixing the brackets to the wall become critical, especially in aerated concrete, brick or externally insulated walls.
We compare the declared EN 13561 wind resistance class with actual site conditions and report brackets, anchors and intermediate supports where needed.

- Folding-arm awnings
- Cassette awnings
- Zip screens and vertical blinds
- Brise-soleil and aluminium louvres

Awning & Shading Structures
How should an awning be fixed through external insulation?
Insulation carries no load. The bracket load has to be transferred to the structural wall with a suitable stand-off anchoring system, designed for the wall type and insulation thickness.
